Mortal bullet has one short deep wide cut upon a "land." All test bullets fired through Sacco's pistol have two long shallow parallel cuts on a different "land." After Hamilton pointed out this wide difference the Prosecution vigorously objected to any more test shots in Sacco's pistol. B-2 V-2 - test bullets fired thru Sacco's pistol during trial. Mortal bullet ex 18 claimed by Prosecution that it was fired thru Sacco's pistol.

Williams and his attention called to how the condition of the screw E and [the] scratch on [the] metal under it, showed how unreliable was Hamilton as to his claim that the screw had not been disturbed. The district attorney had forgotten the photograph of April 7 before. For this #2 photograph revealed that since April 7 23 [someone?] had unscrewed the hammer screw about 1/32 of an inch and left a scratch on [the] metal...

The supreme test by Dr. A.H. Hill superimposing a test bullet (from Sacco's pistol during trial) into the muzzle of his pistol. Each land and groove fit showing conclusively how they fit when you have the right gun and bullet. This bullet was fired by the prosecution's chief gun expert thru Sacco's pistol during the trial. Sacco's gun's firing five strikes 23% off center of the primer. The Fraher shell has the dent in center. After Hamilton discovered this vital difference, the attys for defense invited the prosecution to fire 100 test shells in Sacco's gun to show it would not make a dent in center of primer - they declined the test. Shows measurements of widths of the bands and grooves in Sacco's pistol. At the trial the prosecution claimed they were lands.060 "grooves .107" and that the mortal bullet measured the same. Notice how they fail to fit where superimposed as tested by Hamilton in photograph #4. View 2.
