Thinks the greater part of the book  [Passages from the American Note-Books] should be fresh and new. Begs him not to put in the engraving [of Nathaniel Hawthorne] which is in Good Company. Would like one of the English photographs for Miss Elizabeth [Manning] Hawthorne. Dated "First day of Spring." 4 p.
