Did not realize that Mr. Hawthorne had decided to print the first chapter [of the Dolliver Romance]. Speaks of the confidence her husband had in Ticknor & Fields. Trusts that [Oliver Wendell] Holmes will not write his physical condition. Signed "S.H." For the Dolliver Romance and Holmes's article on Hawthorne see the Atlantic Monthly, July 1864.
