Scope and Contents

This series contains incomplete drafts and fragments of several manuscript poems in the hand of Mary Botham Howitt and one in the hand of William Howitt. Also included are newspaper clippings of Mary Botham Howitt's obituary and a print of an engraved portrait of her by J.B. Hunt. In light of Mary Botham Howitt's conversation to Catholicism, of interest is a section of an essay about her conversation with the Benedictine monk Peter Augustine Baines.
