Scope and Contents
Informs him of his movement in the 23rd inst. on ship or steamer and notes the direction they are moving along the Red River and state of supplies. Notes the conditions of the captured Confederate troops at Fort De Russey and his orders to “to remain in this place as a garrison.” Discusses “Ben. T. Rice, orderly of our Co.” going home on a furlough. Also discusses the location of mutual acquaintance Lieut. Davis, and morale improvement in his troops due to two months’ pay. 2 s. (8 p.)
