Memorabilia, 1808-1975
Scope and Contents
The Memorabilia sub-series includes such items as printing plates, tickets, and other objects that mark special events of the Society. The Commemorative Record includes a brief history of major 19th century events and a chronological list of performances. The Messiah Notebook details both the history of Handel’s Messiah as well as its prominent place within the Society’s own history from 1815 to 1976. The manuscript entitled “Fourth Lecture on Music” written by Bartholomew Brown, the President of the Society in 1836, is also included.
