Scope and Contents
This sub-series records the purchases made by the Society from its beginning in 1815 to 1977 (records are not inclusive). Purchases include sheet music, sperm candles, the printing of tickets, circulars, and advertisement space in newspapers to brandy, cheese and crackers. Rehearsal and concert space and their maintenance, the building and tearing down of stages and seating, the timber needed for stage construction, and the moving of organs are also recorded. Other payments made were for teaching, soloists, and organists. Also see Series 1 Governance for yearly financial statements from 1901-1985.
