Scope and Contents
Hymns and Poems:
“At different times I wrote these hymns, because I felt too ill to work.” The poems are: “God – our Lord!”; “Communion Hymn for February, 1836”; two separate quatrains; “Communion Hymn for March, 1836”; “God is Love!” “Prayer” (a paraphrase of the Latin hymn “O Domine Deus!,” which is quoted); and “Paraphrase of the CIII Psalm” in 3 parts. In the margin of the page containing “Prayer”: “I do not embrace the sentiment of this prayer . . .”
