Scope and Contents
Deplores opposition, among Elliot's college friends, to extempore prayers. "The present age is peculiar": comments on its novelty in law and medicine. "And is the church to remain stereotyped...?" The prayer-book should be adhered to in public worship, but not otherwise used exclusively. Recommends Bishop [Griswold]'s essays on prayer meetings. 1 s. (4 p.)
Griswold's essays on prayer-meetings, first printed in the Episcopal Register of Vermont, were published as Remarks on Social Prayer-meetings in 1858.
