Content Description

The Michael Murray papers documents Murray's career as a director and artistic director in the regional theater movement and in theater arts. The collection consists primarily of materials related to Michael Murray’s founding and tenure as Artistic Director at the Charles Playhouse in Boston, co-founded with Frank Sugrue, including playbooks, playbills, and brochures; correspondence; photographs; published interviews with Murray and play reviews; playhouse Board of Directors and Board of Trustees records; financial records; and fundraising campaign materials. Also included are some materials about his early production in New York, The Iceman Cometh, that started his career as well as materials related to his later work in Cincinnati, Ohio as Artistic Director of the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and Brandeis University in Waltham, MA as Chair of the Theatre Arts Department.
